Climbing can get expensive

I was browsing REI.com for deals last night and started pricing climbing gear. It has been a few months since I have climbed, partially because I have minimal gear (i.e. no rope). I have been playing with the idea of buying gear needed for top roping I would like to watch someone set top roping anchors before I do it myself. I own shoes, a harness, and chalk. So the following is what I found:

Top Roping

New England Equinox 10.2mm x 60m Dry Rope :: $139

Metolius Ropemaster I Rope Bag :: $35.95

Black Diamond ATC – XP Belay Device :: $23.95

Black Diamond Quicksilver2 Screwgate Carabiner :: 4 x $7.95

Omega Pacific ISO Oval Carabiner :: 4 x $5.75

PMI 7mm Cordelette with Lumi-Line :: $14.90

BlueWater 1” Tubular Webbing – Climb-Spec :: 30 ft x $.32

New England 7mm Accessory Cord – Package of 30 ft. :: $11.95

Total :: $290.15

I would get 15% back as dividend because of my REI Membership and REI Visa. Is there anything I left off the list for a top roping setup?

    If you want toprope an area without trees or bolts, you will need a basic trad rack to make your anchor.
